Terms of Service
1Who we are
FAR is operated by Cyan Raccoon Pte. Ltd. (UEN 202617693W), a company incorporated in Singapore with its registered office at 7030 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, #09-46, Northstar @ AMK, Singapore 569880 ("we", "us", "FAR"). You can reach us at support@farjourney.app.
"The service" means the FAR mobile application, this website, and anything we provide through them.
2Accepting these terms
By downloading, opening or using FAR you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it — and if you've already paid, tell us and we'll help you get a refund through the store you bought it from.
You must be at least 16 years old to use FAR. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms on your behalf.
3What FAR is — and isn't
FAR reads the distance you have already covered from your device's health data and represents it as progress along a pre-drawn route across the world. When your accumulated distance passes a point on that route, we show you a milestone: a short written piece about a real place, and an illustration.
FAR is not a medical device, and it is not fitness, medical or health advice. It doesn't diagnose, treat or monitor any condition, it doesn't tell you how much to exercise, and nothing in it should be relied on for any health decision. If you have a health condition or you're unsure whether an activity is safe for you, speak to a doctor.
FAR is not a navigation tool. The routes are representations. They are not turn-by-turn directions, they do not reflect current road conditions or safety, and you must never use FAR to decide where to physically go.
4Your account
You need an account to use FAR. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.
One account is for one person. Don't share, sell or transfer it.
5Health and fitness data
FAR asks your permission to read distance and related activity data from Apple Health (iOS) or Google Fit (Android). We only read what we need to work out how far you have travelled.
You control that permission and can withdraw it at any time in your device settings. If you do, FAR will stop accumulating distance — everything you've already covered stays in your account.
How we handle that data, and the limits we accept on using it, are set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
6The free month
New users get one month of full access at no cost. Everything is included: all journeys, all milestones, all postcards.
Nothing is charged when the free month ends. We do not take payment details up front and the free month does not roll into a paid membership on its own. When it ends, we'll ask you whether you want to continue. If you don't answer, or you say no, your access simply stops — there is nothing to cancel and no charge to reverse.
The free month is once per person. We may withhold it where we reasonably believe it's being claimed repeatedly through new accounts.
7Membership and payment
If you choose to continue after the free month, you buy an annual membership through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Current pricing, including any launch discount, is shown in the app before you confirm.
Your membership renews automatically each year unless you turn renewal off. Renewal is charged at the then-current standard price, not at any promotional rate you received when you joined. Apple and Google will tell you before a renewal is charged, in line with their own rules.
All payments are collected and processed by Apple or Google under their terms. We never see or store your card details. If we change our prices, existing members will be told in advance and the change will only apply from the next renewal.
8Cancelling and refunds
You can turn off automatic renewal at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Your membership then runs to the end of the period you've paid for.
Refunds are handled by Apple and Google, not by us, because they take the payment. Request one through the store you bought from. If something went wrong on our side, tell us first — we'll try to fix it, and we'll support a refund request where it's warranted.
If your membership lapses, your distance stops accumulating and milestone notifications stop, but your postcards, your map and everything you have already covered stay in your account.
9Fair use
Don't do any of the following:
- Falsify distance. Don't inject, simulate, spoof or otherwise submit activity data that doesn't reflect distance you actually covered under your own power.
- Use the service through anything other than the official apps, or automate access to it.
- Copy, extract, scrape or redistribute our milestone writing, illustrations or route data — including to train or fine-tune any machine learning model.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive our source code, except where that right can't be excluded by law.
- Break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or interfere with the service or anyone else's use of it.
10Our content
The routes, the milestone writing, the illustrations, the FAR name and everything else in the service belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use them inside the app for as long as your access lasts.
You may share screenshots of your own progress and postcards socially and personally. You may not sell them, print them for sale, or use them commercially without our written permission.
11Accuracy
Distances come from your device and the health platform you've connected, and they are estimates. Sensors drift, phones mislabel activities, and platforms reconcile overlapping sources in ways we don't control. We don't promise your total is exact.
Milestone writing is researched by hand and we take it seriously, but places change and sources disagree. If you find something wrong, tell us and we'll correct it.
Where we're able to, we may correct a distance total that is obviously wrong — up or down — including where it appears to result from falsified data.
12Changes to the service
FAR will change over time. We may add, alter or remove journeys, milestones and features. We won't remove something you have already earned — postcards and covered distance stay with your account — but we can't promise every route or feature will exist forever.
If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we'll give reasonable notice and, where you've paid for a period you won't receive, arrange a pro-rata refund through the relevant store.
13Suspension and termination
You can stop using FAR at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy).
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms — particularly section 9 — or where we're required to by law. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first.
14Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided "as is". We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your expectations.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you may have statutory rights under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act and other Singapore legislation that these terms do not affect.
15Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and subject to section 14:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or for any injury or loss arising from physical activity you chose to undertake.
- Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period, or SGD 100.
16Third-party services
FAR depends on services we don't control — including Apple Health, Google Fit, the App Store, Google Play, and our hosting and infrastructure providers. Their terms apply to your use of them, and we're not responsible for their acts or omissions.
Where you obtained FAR through the Apple App Store, Apple is not a party to these terms but may enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary, and Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app.
17Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use FAR after that means you accept the new version. The date at the top always shows when it last changed.
18Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your home country's law.
