Help & FAQ

Most problems are a permission in Apple Health or Health Connect, so start with the first section. Still stuck? Email support@farjourney.app — a person answers, usually within a day.

Tracking

Why isn't my cycling being counted?

Usually one of two things:

  1. Cycling Distance isn't switched on for FAR. On iPhone it's a separate permission from walking: open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps → FAR and turn on Cycling Distance. On Android, check FAR has Distance and Exercise in Health Connect.
  2. Your cycling app isn't sending rides to Apple Health. Strava, Garmin Connect, Wahoo and most bike computers can, but it's often off by default. Look for Apple Health (or Health Connect on Android) in that app's settings and allow it to share workouts and distance.

To check: open Health → Browse → Activity → Cycling Distance. If the ride is there, FAR will count it. If it isn't, FAR can't see it yet.

Do I need to set up Apple Health or Health Connect?

Yes, once. FAR doesn't record anything itself — it reads the distance your phone and watch already record. When FAR asks for access, allow Walking + Running Distance and Cycling Distance on iPhone, or Distance and Exercise on Android.

Skipped it? On iPhone, open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps → FAR → Turn On All. On Android, open Health Connect (on Android 14 and later it's inside your phone's Settings — search for "Health Connect"), then App permissions → FAR and allow Distance and Exercise.

Why doesn't my distance match my watch or Strava?

FAR uses the total from Apple Health or Health Connect, which combines every source and counts overlapping activity once — so a walk recorded by both your phone and your watch isn't counted twice.

Strava only shows the activities you record in Strava. FAR also counts all your everyday walking, so it's usually higher.

Do I need to open FAR before I go out?

No. There's nothing to start or stop. Walk, run or ride as normal and the next time you open FAR, you'll have moved.

If a recent activity hasn't appeared, check it's in Apple Health first — watch data can take a little while to reach your phone.

Does FAR use GPS or drain my battery?

No. FAR never uses GPS or your location. It reads distance your phone and watch have already recorded, so it adds almost nothing to your battery use.

Is FAR a step tracker?

No. FAR counts distance, not steps — the kilometres you walk, run and cycle. Steps depend on your stride; a kilometre is a kilometre. A 20 km ride moves you 20 km across the map.

Does it work with my watch or bike computer?

If your device or its app can sync to Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android), FAR counts it. That includes Apple Watch and many Garmin, Coros, Polar, Suunto and Wahoo setups, plus Strava. Check the device's own app for an Apple Health or Health Connect option.

Do indoor rides and treadmill runs count?

Yes, if the app or machine records a distance and sends it to Apple Health or Health Connect. Some indoor sessions only log time or calories — those have no distance for FAR to use.

Your journey

Can I use FAR where I live?

FAR is on the Singapore App Store and Google Play to begin with, so if you're somewhere else you won't be able to install it yet.

We're opening more countries as we go. Leave your email on the home page and we'll tell you the moment we reach yours.

Are the places and distances real?

Yes. Every milestone is a real place, placed at its true straight-line distance from the last one — as the crow flies. It isn't a road route and it isn't directions: please never use FAR to decide where to physically go.

What happens when I finish a route?

The map branches and you choose where to go next. From Bangkok, for example, you can head east to Hanoi (3,408 km) or west to Shillong in north-east India (2,158 km). Your total carries on — nothing resets.

What if I stop for a week?

Nothing breaks. There are no streaks and no daily targets to miss. Your place on the map waits for you, and short days still move you forward.

Where do my postcards go?

Every milestone you reach adds its postcard to your collection in the app. They stay with your account for as long as you have it — including if your subscription ends.

Free month & subscription

What's included in the free month?

Everything. No payment details are taken, so there's nothing to cancel. When the month ends we'll ask if you want to continue; if you don't, access simply stops.

What are the plans after the free month?

A monthly or an annual subscription, bought through the App Store or Google Play. The price in your country is shown in the app before you confirm. Both renew automatically until you cancel.

How does the launch discount work?

At launch, the annual plan is 50% off for your first year. We're starting with Singapore, so the offer may not appear in every country yet — the app shows you whether it applies before you confirm.

The discount covers that first year only. Your second year renews at the standard annual price, which is also shown before you confirm. The monthly plan isn't part of the launch offer.

How do I cancel?

iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → FAR → Cancel Subscription.
Android: open Google Play, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → FAR → Cancel.

Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Apple and Google take the payment, so refunds go through them: reportaproblem.apple.com for the App Store, or your Google Play order history. If something went wrong on our side, tell us first and we'll help.

Privacy & your account

What does FAR read from my health data?

Only distance and the activity type (walk, run or cycle), with the date. Not heart rate, sleep, weight or anything else — and never your location.

Do you use analytics?

Yes. We use Google Analytics to see how the app performs and which screens people use, and — only if you accept — which pages people read on this website. Your distance and health data are never sent to Analytics, and we never sell your data or use it for advertising. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my account and my data?
  1. In the app: go to Settings → Profile and tap Delete my account and info at the bottom, then confirm.
  2. By email: write to support@farjourney.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it.

We need up to one month to delete your personal information and your journey — your distances, milestones and postcards. It can't be undone.

Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription (see above), and it doesn't touch the data in Apple Health or Health Connect — we only delete FAR's copy.

Still stuck?

Tell us your phone model and which app records your walks or rides — that usually gets us to the answer in one reply.
