Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 October 2026

1The short version

  • In the app we ask for an optional age range, height and gender. You can skip them or clear them later.
  • FAR reads distance and activity type from Apple Health or Health Connect. Nothing else from your health data, and never your location.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand how the app is used and, only if you accept, which pages people read on this website. Your distance and health data are never sent to Analytics.
  • We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising.
  • You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Profile, or by emailing support@farjourney.app. We delete your information and your distances within one month.

2Who is responsible

Cyan Raccoon Pte. Ltd. (UEN 202617693W), 7030 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, #09-46, Northstar @ AMK, Singapore 569880, Singapore, is the data controller for personal data processed through FAR. Contact us at support@farjourney.app.

Our Data Protection Officer, as required by Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act, is the Administrator, reachable at admin@farjourney.app.

3What we collect

Account information

Your email address and the account identifier from the sign-in method you chose. If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, we only ever see the relay address.

Your profile

When you set up FAR we ask for an age range, your height and your gender. All three are optional — you can skip them, and you can change or clear them at any time in Settings → Profile.

  • Height helps us estimate your distance more accurately when we are working from a step count rather than a distance already measured by Apple Health or Health Connect.
  • Age range and gender help us understand who is using FAR, so we know what to improve and what to build next. We ask for a range, never your date of birth.

We do not sell this information, share it with advertisers, or use it to target advertising, and we do not send it to Google Analytics. It is deleted with your account.

Activity data

Distance and the related activity type (walk, run, cycle) that you permit us to read from Apple Health or Health Connect, along with the date it was recorded. We use it to calculate your position along a route.

Subscription status

Whether you are on the free month, a monthly or annual subscription, or lapsed. This comes from Apple's or Google's receipt systems via our subscription provider, RevenueCat. We do not receive your payment card details.

Device and diagnostic data

Device model, operating system version, app version, and crash and error reports, so we can fix things that break.

App usage — Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase in the app to understand how FAR performs and which screens people use: app version, device model, crashes, screen views and a random app-instance identifier. We use it only to fix and improve the app. Your distance and health data are never sent to Analytics, and Analytics data is never used for advertising.

Website usage — Google Analytics

On this website we use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read — only if you accept in the cookie banner. See section 14.

Route updates by email

If you sign up for route updates on this website, we store your email address and the date you confirmed it, with our email provider MailerLite. We use it only to email you about FAR — new routes and starting points, and the occasional update or offer. We ask you to tick a box to confirm you want them, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Anything you send us

If you email support, we keep the correspondence so we can help you and remember what happened.

4What we never collect

  • Your location. FAR does not request or use GPS, and we hold no record of where you physically go.
  • Health data beyond distance and activity type. We do not read heart rate, weight, sleep, cycle tracking, clinical records or anything else in your health app. The height in your profile comes from you, not from your health app — see “Your profile” in section 3.
  • Contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
  • Advertising identifiers. We don't request the advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android), there is no advertising SDK in FAR, and we don't use analytics data for advertising.

5Health data: the limits we accept

Activity data is sensitive, and both Apple and Google impose rules on how it may be used. We commit to the following, and they apply whether or not a platform is enforcing them:

  • Health and fitness data is used only to provide FAR to you — calculating distance, position and milestones.
  • We never use it for advertising or marketing, ours or anyone else's.
  • We never sell it, and we never share it with data brokers, insurers, employers or advertising networks.
  • We do not use it to train machine learning models.
  • It is never sent to Google Analytics or any other measurement tool.
  • We do not disclose it to third parties except the processors listed in section 7, or where the law requires it.

6Why we're allowed to process it

For people in the EEA and the UK, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (running your account and your journey), your explicit consent for health and fitness data, which is a special category of personal data, and for route-update emails, and legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention, fixing crashes and understanding how the app is used.

Within your profile, the height you give us is processed to provide the service you asked for; your age range and gender are optional and rely on your consent, which you can withdraw by clearing them in Settings → Profile.

For people in Singapore, we rely on your consent under the PDPA, and on the legitimate interests exception where it applies.

You can withdraw consent for health data at any time by revoking FAR's access in your device settings. That stops new data reaching us immediately.

7Who we share with

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our instructions and cannot use it for their own purposes:

  • Google Firebase — application backend, database and push notifications.
  • RevenueCat — subscription status and receipt validation.
  • Google Firebase Hosting — serving this website.
  • Google Analytics (Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd) — usage measurement in the app, and on this website only with your consent.
  • MailerLite (UAB MailerLite, Lithuania) — sending the route-update emails, if you sign up for them.

We may also disclose data where we're legally required to, or to establish or defend legal claims. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

8Where your data goes

We are based in Singapore, and our providers may process data in Singapore. Where data leaves the EEA or the UK, transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard. Under the PDPA we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection wherever data is transferred.

9How long we keep it

  • Account, profile and activity data — for as long as your account is active.
  • If you ask us to delete — removed from live systems within one month, and from backups within 30 days after that.
  • Dormant accounts — if you haven't opened FAR for 24 months we'll email you, and delete the account if we don't hear back.
  • Route-update subscribers — until you unsubscribe, then removed from the list within 30 days. If you never confirm your address, the unconfirmed entry is deleted after 30 days.
  • Support correspondence — 24 months from the last message.
  • Records we must keep by law (tax, accounting) — for the period the law requires.

10Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it. Depending on where you live you may also be able to object to or restrict certain processing, ask for portability, or withdraw consent.

Email support@farjourney.app and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't charge you, and we won't treat you differently for asking.

11Deleting your account and your data

You can ask us to delete your personal information at any time, in either of two ways:

  1. In the app: go to Settings → Profile, tap Delete my account and info at the bottom of the page, and confirm.
  2. By email: write to support@farjourney.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. If you can't use that address, tell us and we'll confirm it's you another way before deleting anything.

We need up to one month to complete a deletion. In that time we remove your account, your personal information and your journey — the distances you've achieved, your milestones and your postcards. Copies in our backups are cleared within 30 days after that. Deletion can't be undone.

Three things to know:

  • Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings, or you may still be charged.
  • Deleting the app from your phone doesn't delete your account. Use one of the two routes above.
  • Your Apple Health or Health Connect data isn't touched. We delete FAR's copy only; the original stays on your device.

We may keep a record that a deletion was requested and completed, and anything the law requires us to keep.

12Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it and protected by multi-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your personal data we will notify you and the relevant regulators as the law requires.

13Children

FAR is not intended for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

14This website and cookies

This section covers farjourney.app only. The app does not use cookies or advertising identifiers; its use of Google Analytics is described in section 3.

Essential

We store your cookie choice so we don't ask again on every page. This doesn't identify you and can't be switched off.

The route-update signup form sets no cookies and sends nothing anywhere until you submit it.

Analytics — only with your consent

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read. It is off until you accept it. Nothing analytics-related loads, and no analytics cookie is set, unless you choose "Accept" in the banner.

If you accept, Google Analytics collects: pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, how you reached the site, and which links and FAQ questions you click. Google acts as our processor and may transfer this data outside your country under standard contractual clauses. Data is retained for 14 months.

You can change your mind at any time — use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, or clear cookies for this site in your browser. Declining costs you nothing; the site works identically.

We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, we have not enabled Google Signals or ads personalisation, and we do not share this data with any advertising network.

15Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and for material changes we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.

16Contact and complaints

Write to support@farjourney.app. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to Singapore's Personal Data Protection Commission, or — if you're in the EEA or the UK — to your local supervisory authority.
